Jeff Sandstrom

My living letter is one of great fulfillment. I can vividly remember being the youngest kid in our youth group back home, the constant underdog that fortunately had the support of a caring youth pastor and pastoral leadership team. After graduating from high school and working for a state attorney’s office, I saw a great life of law in front of me—a great, wealthy life. When that turned out not to be enough, I packed up and moved to Hollywood, thinking I would find something more when fame was combined with wealth. After landing extra roles in three movies, a commercial, and a TV show, I knew this just wasn’t the life God had in store for me.

It was there in Hollywood, surrounded by every earthly thing a guy could want, that I knew God was calling me to be a pastor and to attend CBC. I moved to Springfield scared that I would be barely scraping the bottom of the barrel, laughed off campus by the serious scholars who have devoted their lives to God and theological studies.

Though I felt inadequate, God had a bigger plan. People had previously told me I would never amount to a leader of any worth. During my time at CBC, I’ve had the privilege to serves in key leadership positions, including Student Body President. I know my experience here, both inside and outside the classroom, has prepared me to be a church planter, to see lives changed and dreams fulfilled.

I know my time here has made me a living letter.

Best,
Jeff
