Crime prevention is everyone's responsibility. There are steps that you can and should take to help minimize the risk of being a victim of a crime inside and outside the dorm room on campus.
- Make it a habit to keep your dorm room locked at all times even when you are visiting a friend down the hallway.
- Do not keep large sums of money or valuables in your room. Save your money in the nearest bank if possible.
- It is not recommended to keep valuables in your vehicle, if you do then lock them in the trunk. If you have a security alarm, please always turn it on when exiting your vehicle.
- If you are going out of town for several days then have someone keep an eye on your room. Notify the Dean of Men or Women whenever you are going to be away for an extended period of time. This will provide accountability. We want to be "pro-active" in approach in order to deter any inevitable misconduct.
The Department of Campus Safety is here to help ensure the safety and security of the campus community. If you have any question, comments or even complaints please call the office at extension 1161 or if off campus the number is 833-2551 extension 1161.
